About the Project
“On the editorial side, it’s now much easier to move the elements of the website. Before, to move an area of the homepage, we had to ask the development team to do the work,” says Diego Valdés, General Editor for Digital Platforms at TVN. Now journalists and editors can make changes much faster. “With Prontus, we can now be much more autonomous from the development and design teams, and we can react to any news stories easier than before.”
The code was optimized to achieve a website that loads fast and has all the necessary metadata for good SEO. Editors can also optimize the URLs to get the best results and use Prontus' SEO assistant to get better results. “The change just after a couple of weeks was very impressive. Perhaps we are not at the top positions yet, but we are on the first page of results, and the difference is noticeable,” says Mr. Valdés.
Integrations and special features
24 Horas works with a third-party video platform to manage all video content that is available on the website. AltaVoz developed a system to automatically get the video information from the video platform into the CMS. Editors only need to review the information and OK it to publish the video on the website.
Also, the development team created “related content cards,” which let journalists insert related articles into the articles they are writing. These related articles are presented as cards, displaying a photograph and the article’s title. If the related article is a video, the video is immediately available for reproduction within the main article.
To avoid a lengthy content migration, the team also created a system to recreate the old articles from a database, generating the HTML files once an article is requested. These HTML files are stored in a cache for a faster answer the next time the article is queried.
